It\u2019s time to get REAL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of May 7, 2025, Michigan residents will need to present a REAL ID-compliant document to fly within the United States and enter certain federal facilities to comply with federal law. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Standard license or ID (both star versions are considered REAL ID)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Circle with star design:<\/strong> Standard REAL ID-compliant licenses and IDs will display a star in a gold circle in the upper right corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To convert to a REAL ID driver’s license or state ID, visit a Secretary of State office and provide the following documents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Your current Michigan driver\u2019s license or ID<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • A name-change document, if your name is different from what is on your legal presence document<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or proof of legal presence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    There\u2019s no additional fee to turn a license or state ID card into a standard REAL ID if it\u2019s done during your normal renewal time; otherwise a duplicate card fee of $9 or $10 will be charged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
